Grand Junction, Colorado

Grand Junction is the largest city on the Western Slope of Colorado and is so named because it is the where the Gunnison River meets the Colorado River. The Colorado River originates northeast of GJ along the continental divide and then flows southwest to the Sea of Cortez. To the southwest is the Colorado National Monument. Interstate 70 runs east and west along the northern edge of the city.

The GJ area is heavily agricultural with extensive irrigation and a long growing season. The weather is mild year round with the exception some very hot days at 100 degrees plus in the summer. A mild climate, gorgeous scenery, moderate housing prices, many recreational opportunities, shopping, and excellent medical facilities have drawn many retirees to this area.

Walker Field is a regional airport with regular scheduled air service.
